
I-Wen Yu is an attorney with law firm and in-house experience spanning Taiwan and the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from National Taiwan University, widely regarded as Taiwan’s most prestigious university, and her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. She is admitted to practice in California, New York, and Taiwan.
At Acer Inc., Ms. Yu served as a Legal Specialist, advising on intellectual property, patents, open-source software, and contractual risk. She drafted, reviewed, and negotiated technology licensing, distribution, agency, purchase, service, and nondisclosure agreements. Working closely with research and development, project management, and patent teams, she addressed intellectual property indemnification under major contracts and supported negotiations with leading chip and PC operating-system providers.
Her technology and medical technology experience also includes serving as Legal Counsel at dentall Co., Ltd., where she advised on commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment matters, GDPR compliance, and data security. She developed company policies, including privacy policies, and oversaw business and legal dispute resolution. As a Legal Consultant at Emajor Tech LLC in Dallas and Taipei, she advised on procurement and supplier contracts, assessed contractual risk, and helped expand the company’s supplier network in Asia.
As Assistant Vice President at Maxpro Ventures Ltd., Ms. Yu negotiated investment documents and term sheets, conducted legal due diligence, and advised portfolio companies on corporate governance, strategic transactions, employment issues, and commercial contracts. Her work included assessing intellectual property, regulatory, and contractual risks associated with potential investments.
In private practice, Ms. Yu has advised corporate clients on consumer protection, competition, privacy, regulatory compliance, and risk management, including employee misconduct investigations for a leading American biotechnology company. Her earlier practice in New York and Dallas included commercial transactions, financing and closings, litigation support, settlement negotiations, and mediation.
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, Ms. Yu brings cross-cultural experience to advising clients on business and legal matters involving the United States and Asia. Her practice focuses on business and corporate law, cross-border transactions, commercial contracts, technology and privacy, and employment matters.
